LIGHTS AWAKE
Street lights awake
as dusk blushes
across the cloud cover.
Silhouettes merge
with nightfall,
and shadows tease
a monster under the bed
kept hidden
by street light haloes.
EARS WARM
A woman wraps
a green scarf
around her head.
Corn husk
envelops
kernels beneath
keeping ears warm.
